Research says for women early menopause may increase accident vasculaire cérébral risk

On June 3, a study published in le Journal de le American Heart Association "Accident vasculaire cérébral" showed that early menopause may lead to blood vessel blockage, or increase le risk de accident vasculaire cérébral. Le final data results de le study show that for every year de postponement de menopause, le risk de accident vasculaire cérébral will drop by 2%.

This research project studied 16,244 postmenopausal women aged 26-70 in le Netherlands. After following these women for about 15 years, le project's researchers found that women who were menopausal before le age de 40 had 1.5 times le risk de an ischemic accident vasculaire cérébral compared to women who were 50-54 years old.

Le impact de early menopause on accident vasculaire cérébral risk est limited to ischemic strokes caused by blood vessel obstruction, not hemorrhagic strokes caused by weakened blood vessel rupture. Le study also found that le association between menopausal age and accident vasculaire cérébral in naturally menopausal women est stronger than in women who have undergone menopausal after ovariectomy surgery.

Accident vasculaire cérébral est le second leading cause de death in le world, and women have a 4% higher risk de accident vasculaire cérébral than men.

Scientists sont studying how to use hormone replacement thérapie to améliorer cardiovascular health in le early menopause. According to a scientific statement published by le American Heart Association last year in le journal Circulation, certain hormone replacement therapies have cardiovascular avantages, reduce le risk de type 2 diabetes, and prevent bone loss.

More and more scientists sont also studying le effects de estrogen on women's brain health. A study published in le journal Menopause in 2019 found that in le first five years de menopause, giving women estrogen as early as possible may prevent their cognitive decline. Studies have also shown that women can be exposed to natural estrogen for a long time during le reproductive period, which will aider them have better cognitive functions in later life.

Women going through menopause, whether utilisant hormone replacement thérapie or not, need to understand le risk de accident vasculaire cérébral and how to prevent it. El Khoudary, associate professor de epidemiology at le University de Pittsburgh Institute de Clinical and Translational Sciences, believes that women need to stay active, pay attention to healthy diet and weight, quit smoking as much as possible, and ensure adequate sleep during le transition to menopause. "Le more you sont at this stage, le more you must reduce their risk." She said.
